What's the difference between masonry and hardscape?

They overlap. Hardscape is the built, non-living part of a yard — patios, walls, walkways, steps. Masonry is the craft of building those in brick, stone, block, and concrete. We do both.

Do you build retaining walls?

Yes — natural stone, segmental block, and structurally sound reinforced walls, plus stone veneer. Walls over four feet may need a permit, which we handle.

Brick, bluestone, or pavers — what should I choose?

It depends on your home and budget. Brick and bluestone suit historic and period homes; concrete pavers offer the most colors and patterns. All of them last when built on a proper base.

Do you work on small city lots?

Constantly. Tight, no-access Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge lots are most of what we do.
